Few people know THIS is actually my first car ever. I bought a brand new Perodua Myvi way back in 2006, but I wasn’t steady behind the wheel yet since I hardly drove back then.
By the time I started driving more often, I have gotten a Toyota Vios, thus passing down this Myvi to my sister and mom. So despite being my first car, I didn’t really spend a lot of time in it.
It’s been 18 years of ownership…. and finally, it’s the end of the road for this ride. At least, for us.
In its place, I’ve bought a 2021 Perodua Ativa AV for Ashley. This was in the pipeline since early this year, as we knew it was a matter of time the Myvi would give out, and further repairs are just not worth it.
It wasn’t easy finding an Ativa unit that is the variant we want (AV, full spec), the color we want (white), and not a lot of crazy mileage for a car that’s still current. So we’re rather fortunate to land in on this unit that’s just clocked in around 43,xxx KM. Plus, the car dealer is only 15 minutes away from home!
So I booked the car, made the payment, and Ashley drove over the Myvi from KL to trade in – for whatever it’s worth (RM3,000, lol at least that was something). In less than a week, we got the car keys.
P.S. At this time last year, I bought a new car for my mother. Today, I’m purchasing another… but for my sister. Childhood is believing Santa Claus is real. Growing up is knowing Santa Claus isn’t real. Adulthood is realizing you are Santa Claus.
P.P.S. Since we’ve just gotten the keys to the Ativa, let me have first dips on the ride before passing this on to my sister.
