The Start Of Our US Trip 2017

The longest Friday.

I left Malaysia on 5th May and after more than 21 hours of flight I arrived in Los Angeles… on the same day!

I took Cathay Pacific and transited via Hong Kong.

Because I miscalculated the dates, we arrived a day earlier than intended before heading to Las Vegas.

Good thing Isabel and Adrian booked a hotel in downtown Santa Monica for the night! My bad.

This was just the beginning of the 3 week long US trip for me this round!

To Phnom Penh!

After spending two days in Siam Reap, I took a 30 minute flight to Phnom Penh to meet Kelly Ch’ng. Kelly has been working here for the last 7 months, and seeing a familiar face here is a relief for me.

As said earlier, I am a terrible negotiator so following her around helped me save a bit as she’s terrific at bargaining with the locals!

I spent a full day in PP before going back the next afternoon but we covered many places – the Cambodian Museum, Killing Fields, did a full body massage, and hopped a few bars including FCC (Foreign Correspondence Club).

Vibes here are totally different from Siam Reap – whereas in SR life is a slower and places seem to be quite apart, here in PP it’s livelier, there are more variety of cars on the streets, and more hip and urban.

We wrapped up the PP trip with a visit to the Central Market to buy some souvenirs back home.

It was a good weekend getaway overall and that’s Country #21 visited for me!

Visiting Temples In Siam Reap!

I had always wanted to visit Cambodia chiefly for its main attraction, the historically famed Angkor Wat. After putting this off for a couple of years hoping I could find someone or a group of people to join me, I decided I waited enough… and just flew over on my own!

I started the tour at 5:00 in the morning to catch sunrise at the temple. And for the next five hours, not only did I cover Angkor Wat, I had also toured six other surrounding temples. One of the temple sites, Ta Phrom, was used to filmed the 2001 movie Tomb Raider.

Cambodia recognizes the US Dollar currency – and things here are not exactly cheap! For example, a can of coke goes for $1.50 – $2.00 here. I hired the same taxi driver from the airport to do both the small and big tour for $80 – the tuk-tuk tour would’ve been half that price. And left on my own, I am a shitty negotiator. Haha!

Cambodia trip continues in Phnom Penh…

Allow Me To Bring You Up To Speed

So it’s been four months since I last posted anything here.

Okay let’s recount what happened right from the start of the year…

1. I was hospitalized.

On account of gastric and bacterial infection. I had experienced it post-Christmas and after one and a half months and 3 doctors, it got worse and I threw up one night. That was it.

Jun Jing was kind to pick me up from home and drive me to the nearest hospital in the wee hours of the morning. While I had been to the hospital before, this was the first time I stayed over for a few nights.

My staff visited me on one of the days for company.

All the stress and pressure from the year before took its toll on my body, and I was forced into rest even after discharge.

Even so, I didn’t have the luxury of resting on my laurels as right after, I had to organize my long anticipated…

2. First High Level Mastermind Retreat

Chose the most expensive villa out of all the options (we want the best for our high-end Clients). Booked two Mazda 6 drivers to pick up our international Clients. Called my usual crew back to organize this event, and also hired a professional video crew.

4 days of high level masterminding in Pahang with clients from US, UK, France, Singapore, and of course Malaysia.

In short: a success!

3. Sold My Car

At just 7 months old, I’ve let go my chariot.

Clocking just under 10,000 KM in mileage and in pristine condition, I advertised my car on Carlist.my and posted to the F30 Rusted Jackets group. I was fortunate to find a buyer relatively fast.

And if you’re wondering why I’m letting go this car so soon – don’t get me wrong, I LOVE this car – but because I’m considered to be high risk, high debt individual by the banks, it’s been a hindrance to get loan approval for a third property in Malaysia and although I can accept that, I need my own credit card.

So an elaborate plan it is – let go this car, re-apply for credit card from multiple banks, then get another ride again.

Yes, it will be another BMW.

But hold your horses…

4. I am going to be in the States again.

This time I will be in Vegas (again) and L.A. (again) and Dallas might see me return again more than a year later – to be confirmed.

Main purpose: to go to the Bug Free Mastermind event and network with the top personal development marketers and figures there.

L.A. will mostly be a leisure part of the trip.

And if I’ll be detouring to Dallas, it will be to attend the next High Ticket Mastermind. Altogether up to 3 weeks there.

While I’m here, I’ll be renting cars to get around – need to give the i8 a test drive, and that will decide it all…

So yep, that’s where I am and what I am up to next!

Life Changing Money Challenge

9 years ago I joined the first Life Changing Party (now renamed Life Changing Money Challenge). Here I am again… So so so different ! Game is more app driven now, sumptuous food and great company!

What Is Life Changing Money Challenge?

Think of it as Monopoly or CashFlow 101 carried out in a live event. When you walk into the Hall, the year is 2016 (current). Every participant goes on the app and plays the game, Life Changing Money Challenge.

The game is driven by a virtual currency called LCD or “Life Changing Dollars”. The objective of the game is to amass as much LCDs as possible. Top 3 players with highest net worth wins.

How Is It Played?

The game is divided into two Phases. Phase 1 is basically played BEFORE the event itself. You start off with LCD 1 Million, and there is an incentive to start collecting LCD as all these carries over to the main event on the night itself.

Players get LCDs by referring friends, answering Q&As, or take a chance with Fate Codes (akin to gambling).

Phase 2 begins during the live event itself.

You start off with whatever you’ve earned in Phase 1 + LCD 10 Million.

Mirroring reality, players can do a variety of things to build (or lose) their wealth: buy Businesses, Franchises, stocks, properties, even gamble (lol), Auction, make deals with other Players, etc.

And just like real life, there are huge investments beyond individual players that it requires team work and negotiating.

Theoretically, every 20 minutes means 1 year has passed in the game – but some technical difficulties with the app and some events like Lively Larry and Auctioning took a bit more time than it should.

However the game ended at Year 2021, 5 years later…

What Do You Get For Winning?

Top 3 winners from Phase 1 and Phase 2 win various prizes.

As a sponsor of the event, I was not eligible for winning. But I still went all out to play. 😛

Even so, the players sure are crazy even if I were eligible, I wouldn’t have won any prizes haha…

In Phase 1, I finished 5th place.

In Phase 2, I finished 7th place – even with a windfall of LCD10Million from playing a silly ‘human jackpot’ game LOL

It was a fun night overall – it also doubled as a mini reunion with some of my workshop students and other business friends.

I’ve also learned what a saver I am when it comes to money. I suspect if I threw everything I had into stocks (I had good pickings) I would indefinitely make way more and possibly top everyone… then again, it’s not something I would’ve dare done in real life.

Learned a lot about my own money habits that night!
