Checking Out The New BMW i8

It has just been less than less than a month since I got my new BMW, and I am already day dreaming about my next and future car when I learned of the cutting edge BMW i8. (That’s the good thing about cars… they’re not girlfriends, lol)

Today I had to go see the BMW i8 in person at the Auto Bavaria show room at Jalan Tun Razak, KL.

This is truly a piece of technological marvel that has brought the future to the present!

Pros:

  • Futuristic design that’s gonna be a showstopper for sure
  • Marvelous RM90 road tax due to its 1.5L engine (lol)
  • Packs a punch for a 1.5L engine cos it’s coupled with electric motors, making it an All Wheel Drive
  • Being a hybrid sports car, lower CO2 emissions

Cons:

  • I don’t know its direct competitors, but its top speed is kinda weak against other sports cars at its price or less (clocks in 250 km/h top speed)
  • At RM 1.2 MILLION (~US$400K) it costs nearly 4X more than its American and European counterparts (around US$100K – US$130K)

Hmmm… Still I feel this is worth becoming a new goal for my early 30’s. The futuristic design is enough to win me over.

At present moment I am only 1/8th from truly earning this beauty. I need a new financial game plan to bag this in 3 years (but my overall strategy won’t change… it will always be Grow Business -> Buy Assets -> Assets Buy Liabilities)

Rock Climbing at Camp 5

It’s been more than a month since I last took the Musemancer team out anywhere. Now that the Cover Genie Pro launch has been done and support is more manageable, we needed to give ourselves a treat.

After all, we just got a new full-time staff and two Interns joining us this week – in time to have fun with us!

One of my colleagues, Augustine, suggested we go rock climbing at Camp 5, 1 Utama. Why not? First and last time I went here was 6 years ago.

And whoa… the girls sure could climb. They’ve been trashing us guys at it! Way to go 🙂

New Car!

Finally, I’ve fulfilled the promise I made to myself 23 year old self – that is to get a BMW while I’m still in my 20’s!

And I sure held it off for years… With only one year plus left to hit my target (going to be 29 years old in less than a week)

Sometimes I think I could have had achieved it faster if I had kept the fire burning and hustle at high intensity. Maybe I could have gotten a new car at least 2 years earlier?

However I don’t regret the process. I am very glad I followed the process of accumulating my material gains in an ‘orderly fashion’ and stuck to it.

Take care of my mom’s side first -> build and grow the business -> secure a house first and get out of rented property -> squeezed in at least 1 property purchase for investing -> then finally I move in to reward myself with a new car!

I wouldn’t have had it any other way.

I know most people would have splashed on a big car almost immediately after making some money. Which is totally unwise no matter how I see it.

I know with 100% conviction that I earned my new ride the right, smart way and that I took care of my bases very well before anything else.

So what’s next? Just gonna grow my digital publishing and online marketing business further, and buy more assets! That’s the name of the game. 🙂

Good Men Go (R.I.P. Jayshe Han)

One of my Airsoft friends, Jayshe Han, had contracted cancer and been fighting it for around a year. We received a message passed onto us that he was in critical condition and he didn’t have long to live.

I detoured from the gym and head over to his residence in Cheras. The atmosphere was heavy and the once cheerful, fit and larger-than-life man was now reduced to nearly skeleton.

I was at a loss for words and even though I said to “stay strong” I knew it was false assurance. I wanted to hug him but he was too frail and weak, and in the company of his wife, family and close friends holding onto every part of him, we could only be careful. As he laid suffering on the recliner chair, it was the day even the toughest of men cried.

To give an insight into what kind of man he was: when I was new to the team 4 years ago Jay was one of the first people to talk to me and welcomed me with open arms; I was pretty much a loner then.

His looks might had been intimidating but he always had the best of intentions. Although without children, he had been a father figure to his nieces and nephews and stayed loyal to his loving wife up to his final day; his get well cards were gold testaments to his character and how he lived his life.

Alas, it is with great sadness that our friend, brother and comrade passed away 7:25 this morning. It was just two weeks ago that celebrated his 49th birthday.

Jay, it must had been a tough 3 weeks but you’re now free at last. We already miss your cheerful presence and great sense of humor and friendship. Rest in peace Jay.

Not only were you a great brother to me and others, you also touched lives when you were not wearing the uniform. I am truly and forever honored to have fought by your side for the last 4 years!

Rest In Peace Brother, Comrade, Amazing Friend, General.

Dead Lifts Update – Nearly Twice My Weight!

I won’t be going anywhere for the time being until my trip to the US in February next year. I’ll be clocking in gym time again on at least two times a week – and beyond that, do my own workouts at home with body weight training.

My motivation has been renewed ever since friends commented I look buffer now. YES, A BIG WIN considering that I failed my attempt in 2012. I was putting on muscles but vomited it all out and felt nausea for a very loooong time, thus shrunk back. Plus for most of my life I have to bare with people around me saying how thin and scrawny I was, and “ah boy boy, you need to eat more rice”.

I weighed 59-60 kilos average then; now I am consistently 65 kilos for the last three months.

IMG_8960One of my recent photos. Yes, I’m making gains!

Yesterday I visited the QLS Fitness gym and my latest PR for dead lifts is 120 kilos or 264 lbs. A 22 lbs increase since my best record of 242 lbs in 2013!

I was gunning for 130 kilos which would have been double my body weight but alas, I couldn’t even lift the bar off the ground. Not even 125 kilos. So 120 kilos it was. I shall try again in a couple of months.

While I am happy with my progress, the increase in body weight came at a price: I also put on some unwanted love handles on the sides. And I’ll be hitting 30 soon, which means I need to watch what I eat now more than before.

Now that I’ve achieved my long desired ideal body weight, it’s time to go for that ideal body: get rid of the flabs and replace with six packs!
