Upcoming: Airsoft MILSIM 2024 (Afghan War Theme)

This will be the 3rd time in a row I’m ending the year in Thailand by joining a big Airsoft game. And this time, the Organizer is Thailand Military Impression Club.

It’s gonna be 1 full day event on 21st December 2024. I’ll be flying from Malaysia to Don Mueang airport (DMK) on the 20th, and leaving on 22nd. And after this, I will be occupied with business for at least the first half of 2025.

Just checked this upcoming Airsoft MILSIM event in Thailand, and it’s hit 155 pax now! ??

The theme is Afghan War (2001-2021). Friends and I are joining the US/NATO side ?? (General Infantry) going up against the OpFor i.e. Taliban. ??

I use what I have, borrowed some stuff around, and sourced the others on AliExpress to make this loose impression of the US soldier in the early stages of the war.

I’m not aiming for 100% accuracy (just close enough) because this is a 1-off event for me. After this, I’m returning what I borrow, and selling off the rest.

IMO the combo of DCU3 pattern and M81 Woodlands is probably the drippiest US soldier aesthetic that defined the 90s and early 2000’s, just before the era of all ‘tacticool’, picatinny rail and digital camoflauge.

P.S. I know it’s weird to say this. We are 23 years beyond those events, yet it felt like that wasn’t that long ago.

P.P.S. I *did* consider joining the OpFor (can’t spell it out here for obvious reasons) because I wouldn’t have to bring over a lot of stuff on flight. But… I might be treated as a security risk upon returning home for importing “extreme ideology”.

38 Lessons In Business And Life

Since I’ve just celebrated my 38th birthday recently, I’m sharing my top 38 lessons in no particular order:

1. The biggest expense is the money you are not making.

2. Loose lips sinks ships.

3. Your vibes attract your tribe.

4. When someone is concerned, they have a lot of questions. When someone is hiding something, they have a lot of answers.

5. Insecurities are loud. Confidence is quiet.

6. If you can’t buy it twice, you can’t afford it.

7. A mentorship moment starts with an open mind and a closed mouth.

8. You can’t climb the ladder of success with your hands in your pocket.

9. The cleanest water has no fish. The cheapest person has no shame.

10. Show, not tell.

11. The world is changed by example, not opinion.

12. It’s only a riddle if you don’t know the answer.

13. A Tiger rarely shows its claws. A cat shows them all the time.

14. An amateur studies tactics. An expert studies logistics.

15. Revenue is vanity. Profit is sanity. Cash flow is reality.

16. Victory has a thousand fathers. Defeat is an orphan.

17. Great marketing cannot substitute sh*t product.

18. Truth does not mind being questioned. Lie does not like being challenged.

19. The heaviest thing in the world is not iron or gold, but an unmade decision.

21. Good steel do not become nails.

22. You can make mistakes and still win. You can not make mistakes and still lose.

23. Without hard work, a great strategy remains a dream. Without a great strategy, hard work becomes a nightmare.

24. Pride comes before fall. But self doubt comes before victory.

25. Make your own economy.

26. Your energy introduces you before you even speak.

27. The ones who say yes and maybe will find more opportunities than those who say no.

28. Market speaks loudest.

29. Those who pay, pay attention. Those who don’t, won’t.

30. No money no talk. No talk no money.

31. A good plan today is better than a perfect plan tomorrow.

32. The difference between a dream and a goal is a plan and execution.

33. General skill makes general income. Specific skill makes specific income.

34. Creating a product for an existing audience is easier than trying to create an audience for a product.

35. What comes easy, wont last long. What isn’t easy, will last long.

36. Don’t speak unless you can improve the silence. Otherwise, silence is golden.

37. Don’t be clever. Be clear.

38. A hopeless man sees difficulty in every chance. A hopeful man sees chance in every difficulty.

38 trips around the sun, and still a lot more to learn and gain. Here’s to more!

Pink Myvi: The End Of An Era (2006-2024) And Hello Ativa

Few people know THIS is actually my first car ever. I bought a brand new Perodua Myvi way back in 2006, but I wasn’t steady behind the wheel yet since I hardly drove back then.

By the time I started driving more often, I have gotten a Toyota Vios, thus passing down this Myvi to my sister and mom. So despite being my first car, I didn’t really spend a lot of time in it.

It’s been 18 years of ownership…. and finally, it’s the end of the road for this ride. At least, for us.

In its place, I’ve bought a 2021 Perodua Ativa AV for Ashley. This was in the pipeline since early this year, as we knew it was a matter of time the Myvi would give out, and further repairs are just not worth it.

It wasn’t easy finding an Ativa unit that is the variant we want (AV, full spec), the color we want (white), and not a lot of crazy mileage for a car that’s still current. So we’re rather fortunate to land in on this unit that’s just clocked in around 43,xxx KM. Plus, the car dealer is only 15 minutes away from home!

So I booked the car, made the payment, and Ashley drove over the Myvi from KL to trade in – for whatever it’s worth (RM3,000, lol at least that was something). In less than a week, we got the car keys.

P.S. At this time last year, I bought a new car for my mother. Today, I’m purchasing another… but for my sister. Childhood is believing Santa Claus is real. Growing up is knowing Santa Claus isn’t real. Adulthood is realizing you are Santa Claus.

P.P.S. Since we’ve just gotten the keys to the Ativa, let me have first dips on the ride before passing this on to my sister.

Foam Dart On Lazarus Island (And Hornet Encounter!)

I slept most of the last 2 days after I got back from a game of foam darts on Lazarus Island, Singapore. The game was more than a month in the making, and even at relatively pricey SGD75 (for a Malaysian), I wanted to come for the experience – or at least, say that I’ve been here before.

With 83 people in attendance, I was the only one from Malaysia. But if you think I was the only one that made the effort to come here, there was also Patra that came all the way from Indonesia, who was also in my team in Silent Knight II.

Mid-way through the game, I got stung by hornets ??? While my condition isn’t serious, another player had to be taken back to mainland. I am fortunate in comparison. I rested for half an hour, and returned for the third and final round. And yes, our team won! We discovered and carried the treasure chest back to base under covering fire. After that, I legged back to Johor.

As I’m writing this, I’m still resting and hopefully, nothing major manifests.
